The reception on Launch night

On the 9th October, I was invited along to attend the launch of the ‘Style Your Hair’ App at a boutique salon on Brisbane street, Perth called Chilli Couture. Chilli Couture is born from the entrepreneurial spirit of two women, Rachel Walker and Emmanuelle Torres. This is a ‘one of a kind’ salon that specialises in hair styling & colouring, various beauty services, hair extensions and eye lash extensions.  The salon opened the doors approximately 14 months ago and has built a loyal following of 1000+ likers on their Facebook Page.

The dynamic duo of Chilli Couture - Emmanuelle and Rachel. Congrats ladies!

The salon has earnt a number of business and industry awards in the past year, such as:

Finalists of the 2012 WA Training Awards Small Business Award

Finalists of the 2012 Telstra Business Awards Small Business Award

Finalists of the 2012 Telstra Business Awards Peoples Choice Award

Gold Winner for the 2012 Australian Business Quality Awards

Runner up of the 2012 AFHA Best New Salon Design

This regards them as an award winning salon who value their customers’ needs by providing a professional and personalised service to each client.

I must admit…I’m clueless when it comes to hair styling, but do appreciate a great salon service! There is nothing like leaving a hair appointment, feeling refreshed, recharged and filled with ‘ready to take on the world’ confidence! However I don’t always have the time or money to make it down to the salon, therefore I am willing to give DIY hair styling a go.

A live demonstration on how to use the app

Cue in the newest app that is available for download on Android and soon to be released on Apple - 'Style Your Hair'. It is an app created by the Directors Rachel and Emmanuelle, who decided to develop an app to assist the DIYers of the world on how to turn boring, neglected locks into fashionable dos in the comfort of their own home.

The inspiration behind this project came about when the founders noticed a lack of clear instructive videos on Youtube, with amateur videography making it difficult for the curious fashionista to follow. It was their heartfelt mission to help the hairy helpless!

Guests on the night received the app for free, I was overly excited to play with it. Let the education begin!

The app consists of easy to follow, professionally produced, video tutorials narrated by Rachel herself, that takes the user through a step-by-step process of how to create a certain hairstyle. ‘Style Your Hair’ app features:

  • 67 high quality video tutorials to recreate salon professional hairstyles
  • New videos and styles will constantly be added to the app, keeping with current ends
  • Easy to navigate user interface
  • Easy to follow, step-by-step styling instructions for women and men of all hair types
  • Nine different style categories including; Easy Upstyling, Thermal Styling, Blow Drying, Short
  • Hair Ideas, Medium Hair Ideas, Long Hair Ideas, Extensions Styling, Curly Hair Styling and Men’s Styles

So what are you waiting for? Get the app today! And forget about suffering from a ‘bad hair’ day ever AGAIN! ‘Style Your Hair’ is available worldwide, so international readers…you can be armed with this ‘stylish’ app too!

I filmed this product review at the Parmelia Hilton Hotel, Perth (as mentioned in the previous post). It is so much easier when I don’t have to lock myself away from my kids or put them to bed before I start filming.

This is a review on Nailene So Natural French artificial nails, I received this because I am a member of the Beauty Heaven Video Trial Team. So far, this has been one of the most fun trials yet! What girl doesn’t love looking primped? I was so happy with this trial because the kit is so cheap, easy to use and looks very professional…felt as if I stepped out of a nail salon!

Thanks to Beauty Heaven and Nailene for giving me the opportunity to share this review with you all :) I hope you guys like what you hear and will go out try a packet to pamper yourselves.

P.s/ You too can be a part of the Beauty Heaven trial team. If you would like to become a member and start earning points, please email me (evonleearevalo@gmail.com) and I will send you an invitation to join! You would be helping me to earn points towards Beautorium, so I can buy new products and review them here for my beauty fans at ‘Sew is Life’.

I know some of you guys would be keen to get free products to trial for yourselves ;)

Note: I was not paid for this video review or my comments, the product was merely given to me as a part of a trial.

I was up last night recording this Video Review on Dove’s Purely Pampering Nourishing Body Wash, courtesy of Beauty Heaven and Dove Australia.

I am so glad to be chosen to be a part of this trial team as I have been a DOVE girl from way back when. Dove has created some really great cult beauty products through out the years. This one is simply luxurious…it was like bathing in clouds!

Watch my video review to find out more on this recently released product from Dove. If you have tried it out yourself, please share your thoughts on it :)

I recently uploaded a new video to Youtube reviewing Lancome’s new lipstick ‘Rouge In Love’. I was very fortunate to be picked to trial such a gorgeous product and it has become my favorite item in the hand bag. No more excuses for a pale and tired looking pregnancy face. Honestly I am one of those women who doesn’t get the glow…I just don’t see it! Lipstick is a lifesaver during these times..

How do you perk yourself up when you are looking tired?

Please check out my newest review on one of my favourite things = stationary!! It is kinda late, as it is a review on KikkiK 2012 Diary. However, I hope you enjoy watching this clip and please share your stationary obsessions with me too :)

Check out my very first ‘haul’ video, where you can scope out some of the presents I received on my birthday.

Let me know if any of the items catch your interest too ;)

Silly me…I left it till the last minute again to enter the Beauty Heaven Blog Star 2011 competition. Last year I didn’t end up applying because I was just a wimp and I procrastinated. But now when I decided to enter to be in the running for the ‘BlogStar’ title, a measly 6 seconds saw me…pretty much disqualified. They were serious about the 2 minute limit! I can’t be bothered editing it at the moment, so I will just have to wait till next year to have another go.

However, my video is still available for your viewing pleasure. It is all about my favourite holiday must-haves. Sound familiar? This list of top beauty items are from my personal stash. Please have a listen and a laugh :)

Chanel Spring Summer 2012 Fashion Show

I am blown away by Mr Lagerfield’s designs and Florence from Florence and The Machine performing. This is a collection I will be day dreaming about for the rest of the year. All the pieces has a certain earthy element to it, with an ethereal feel. White dominates with silver booties….and the message here is ‘pearls are a woman’s best friend’.

A simply amazing and wearable collection, The Boss, Coco Chanel, would be proud.

Thanks to Beauty Heaven I was chosen to participate in the ‘White Shirt Challenge’ which meant I was to trial the Nivea Invisible for Black & White aerosol in the Pure and Clear fragrance. This was a 10 week trial which saw the disappearance of stains caused by deodorants on my favourite clothing. In the end I was required to submit a video review and this will soon be available on the Beauty Heaven website. But for my special audience, here it is for your viewing pleasure! Maybe it will help with your deodorant purchasing decision in the future :)

*Note: Please forgive the poor quality of the video, it was my first time testing out the webcam on my notebook. Now I know I need to purchase a better webcam or to use my Sony HD camcorder which I paid so much for.

This is my second video review for BeautyHeaven, I was selected to trial the Nivea Visage Daily Essentials Moisturising Day Cream SPF 15+. Please forgive my limited video editing skills and amateur video reviewing skills…it can only be improved with more practice! Please let me know what you think, good and bad points ;)
